Volunteer Board Application

Open Positions: 

  • Vice Chair (Vice President) – Supports the chair and steps in when needed. Often takes on specific leadership tasks.

  • Secretary – Manages board records, meeting minutes, and legal documentation. Ensures compliance with bylaws.​

  • Treasurer – Oversees the financial health of the nonprofit, including budgeting, financial reports, and audits.

  • ​General Board Members – Provide strategic guidance, participate in committees, and assist with fundraising and advocacy.

Qualities and Skills:

  • Passion for the Cause: A genuine interest and commitment to the nonprofit's mission.

  • Expertise: Skills in areas like finance, legal affairs, fundraising, marketing, or those specific to the nonprofit's field (e.g., advocacy, veterans affairs, real estate, ).

  • Network: Connections that can help with fundraising, partnerships, or advocacy efforts.

  • Governance Experience: Understanding of governance practices and fiduciary responsibilities.

  • Diversity: Different perspectives, backgrounds, and demographics to ensure well-rounded decision-making.

  • Commitment: Willingness to dedicate time and effort to attend meetings, participate in committees, and support initiatives.

This position is a hybrid position, members are expected to balance in-person and virtual engagement while fulfilling diverse roles (e.g., strategic planning, fundraising, advocacy, and communication). Must remain active in both formal meetings and ongoing contributions

Time Commitment: quarterly, with each meeting lasting 1 to 2 hours. 5 to 10 hours per month on board-related activities, role often involves fundraising, which may require additional time outside of regular meetings.
